Dr. Iahn Cajigas is a neurosurgeon, bioengineer, and Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania. He directs the RESToRE Lab, where his team focuses on developing brain-computer interfaces, neuromodulation therapies, and intraoperative neurophysiology tools to restore function in people with neurological injuries.
Dr. Cajigas completed his MD at Harvard Medical School and PhD at MIT, followed by neurosurgery residency at the University of Miami and a fellowship in functional neurosurgery at UCSF. His work bridges clinical practice with translational research, aiming to bring advanced neurotechnologies into everyday care for patients with paralysis, movement disorders, and chronic pain.
He is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, North American Neuromodulation Society, and IEEE. He serves on the editorial board of the IEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology and is a peer reviewer for journals including Nature, The New England Journal of Medicine, Neurosurgery, and others.
With more than a decade of experience in clinical neurosurgery and neuroengineering, Dr. Cajigas is committed to advancing the science and application of restorative neurotechnology.
