Carrie Muh, MD, is Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery and Surgical Director of the Pediatric Epilepsy Program at Westchester Medical Center and Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, and is a Professor of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics at New York Medical College. She specializes in surgical therapies for epilepsy, with a focus on pediatric neuromodulation.
Dr. Muh has worked with multiple neurosurgical organizations and the International League Against Epilepsy to expand access to pediatric neurosurgery and epilepsy surgery globally, through education and collaboration. As part of these efforts, she has operated and taught internationally, most recently in Ukraine and Kenya. Her research includes translational epilepsy studies, pediatric neuromodulation, and device development; she holds a patent for a CSF shunt that measures intracranial pressure.
Dr. Muh completed two undergraduate degrees and a master’s degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and earned her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed neurosurgical residency at Emory University and a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, practiced at Duke University for eight years, then moved to New York in 2019 to build a new Epilepsy Center at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.
