Latrice A. Akuamoah, M.D., M.P.H., is a double board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician originally from Chicago. She earned her B.S. in molecular genetics from the University of Rochester and both her M.D. and M.P.H. from Tulane University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and her fellowship in interventional pain management at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Akuamoah is a compassionate physician who takes time to understand her patients’ goals, with a particular focus on caring for populations that have historically experienced healthcare disparities, including women and people of color. Her clinical expertise includes the treatment of spine pain, sciatica, spinal stenosis, arthritis, and post-surgical pain, as well as joint pain, headaches, and neuropathic conditions. She stays at the forefront of her field by presenting and collaborating with colleagues at pain society conferences and offering cutting-edge treatments such as neurostimulation, radiofrequency ablation, and minimally invasive lumbar decompression. Dr. Akuamoah is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She was honored to receive the ASPN Dr. Lisa Stearns Diversity Award. She enjoys yoga, travel, podcasts, and Chicago deep-dish pizza.
