Dr. Shayan Moosa is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Virginia, where he specializes in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. His clinical expertise includes the surgical treatment of movement disorders, epilepsy, chronic pain, brain tumors, and peripheral nerve conditions.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Moosa holds several leadership roles within the department, serving as Outpatient Medical Director, Associate Residency Program Director, and Associate Director of the Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery Fellowship Program.
Dr. Moosa's research focuses on the therapeutic applications of both high- and low-intensity transcranial focused ultrasound. His work aims to advance treatment strategies for movement disorders, epilepsy, chronic pain, and gliomas. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and currently leads clinical trials investigating sonodynamic therapy for recurrent glioblastoma and low-intensity focused ultrasound neuromodulation for essential tremor.
