Dr. Vishal Varshney is an anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician at Providence Healthcare (St. Paul's Hospital and Mount St. Joseph's Hospital), where he holds the inaugural St. Paul's Hospital Foundation Chair in Pain Management, and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada. He completed medical school from the University of Calgary, and his residency in anesthesiology at the University of British Columbia. He completed his fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Calgary, being one of the first physicians certified in Pain Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in western Canada. His clinical interests are in neuromodulation and medical administration, serving as a board member for the Canadian Neuromodulation Society. He has been part of several national and provincial firsts in the field of neuromodulation, and maintains a diverse practice spanning spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, intrathecal drug delivery systems and sacral nerve stimulation. He is currently a Clinical Director of Outpatient Planning for the New St. Paul's Hospital.
