Dr. John P. Seymour leads the Translational Bioelectronics Lab, a joint initiative between UTHealth Houston and Rice University. He is currently an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at UTHealth Houston and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University. His research focuses on developing advanced depth electrode arrays to accelerate human translational research, supported by multiple NIH grants and the University of Texas STARS Award.
Prior to joining UTHealth, Dr. Seymour was a research faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan, where he pioneered neural interface technologies, including stretchable bioelectronics and optogenetic mapping tools. He holds a B.S. with Honors in Engineering Physics from Ohio State University and both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
