Professor
Thomas Jefferson University
Dr. Chengyuan Wu is Professor of Neurosurgery and Radiology at Thomas Jefferson University, where he practices within the Division of Epilepsy and Neuromodulation Neurosurgery at the Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience. He serves as Clinical Director of the Jefferson Integrated Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center (JIMRIC), supporting translational neuroimaging research and advanced clinical imaging. Dr. Wu earned his BS in Computer and Biomedical Engineering, MS in Biomedical Engineering, and MD from Tufts University through a combined degree program. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Jefferson, followed by fellowship training in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery with Dr. Ashwini Sharan (Jefferson), Dr. Kim Burchiel (OHSU), and Dr. Marwan Hariz (Queen Square, London).
Dr. Wu’s clinical work integrates advanced technologies to treat patients with movement disorders, drug-resistant epilepsy, and chronic pain. His research focuses on advanced MRI-based techniques to map human brain networks. Through this work, he aims to improve both clinical outcomes and fundamental understanding of neurological disease. His interdisciplinary approach bridges neurosurgery, engineering, and neuroimaging to advance the science and practice of neuromodulation.
