Salahadin Abdi, MD, PhD, is a tenured Professor of Anesthesiology/Pain Medicine and Chair, Department of Pain Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Dr. Abdi is a physician-scientist who is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He has been invited Speaker and Visiting Professor in national and international institutes worldwide. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed manuscript, abstracts, book chapters and books. He is a highly regarded leader in the field of pain medicine who trained several current leaders in the field. Dr Abdi’s specific contributions to the field of pain medicine includes: developing innovative tools for pain assessment, improving techniques of nerve blocks, and introducing novel treatments for neuropathic pain. The focus of his current research has been studying the pathogenesis of cancer related neuropathic pain using animal and human models.
Dr Abdi serves as chief editor, associate editor, section and/or guest editor, and editor and reviewer for many professional peer review national and international journals. He is a former president of ASIPP and current Executive Director of ABIPP.
