Dr. Andrew Cornwell is a biomedical innovation leader with deep expertise at the intersection of translational research, neurotechnology, and entrepreneurship. As Associate Director of the Case-Coulter Translational Research Partnership, he manages a $2M/year investment fund that supports investigator-led projects through critical FDA and market milestones. He also leads the 11000 Cedar Startup Incubator at Case Western Reserve University, transforming it into northeast Ohio’s hub for deep-tech startups in therapeutics, medical devices, cleantech, and advanced manufacturing, now home to more than 40 early-stage ventures.
Dr. Cornwell is a founding Executive Faculty member of Cleveland NeuroDesign. This collaboration trains future neurotech entrepreneurs through the highly regarded Neurotech Entrepreneurs Workshop, now with global reach. His background includes startup formation, product development, and AR/VR commercialization, and he has advised dozens of ventures across academia and industry.
With a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from CWRU and undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Mathematics, Dr. Cornwell brings a rare mix of scientific depth and business strategy. He continues to serve as a mentor, evaluator, and ecosystem builder for national and international innovation programs focused on bringing breakthrough health technologies to market.
